About the Artist
MARIA FIELD, self-taught Brisbane artist, chocoholic and mother of two (and wife of one) was born in Brisbane in 1963. Her love of art began at the age of 5 when she received a 36 colour paint box, which became her most treasured possession. Her love of animals naturally called her to draw her family pets. She now specializes in detailed pastel Pet Portraits receiving many commissions. Her perfectionistic style captures the unique personality of each animal.
Maria is constantly inspired by the sheer beauty of nature and the world around her and she strives to portray this love in all her work. She delights in creating colourful and detailed watercolours, vibrant floral oils and acrylics, impasto, impressionistic pastels and even cartoon murals. She shared her love of art by voluntarily teaching art at her children’s school. She currently runs a class in watercolour painting at Scattered Arts.
