Discovering new ways of being church in various cultures is like Columbus sailing across the Atlantic ocean- we have a vision of where we're going but don't know the exact details. |
Over the next 6 months Until now that we've been exploring faith as it relates to many areas of life like art and work, being church at Cafes etc. Now we'll be developing our spiritual life together more around some core cultures that have been identified in the church ie- art, music, professional, other? We'll be experimenting with what church is for us in our diverse cultures, breaking into different groups on occasions while maintaining enough united activities to keep the family together. As we engage more with the community our life in Jesus will naturally overflow and people will want to know God and join the 'party' that is our community of faith. We're committed to steady sustainable growth as a church. From February we'll host some Tabor students on Mondays learning about mission and connecting with local people. |

Structure must serve people- we'll be seeing what emerges as we engage more in the community through service. It will become obvious who are those who serve the church in various ways, and then we'll be recognising their specific contributions. Those who do pastoral care, elder-types etc will become obvious. We're not into the 'strong charismatic' type of leadership that promotes dependence on the leader. Some people may feel uncomfortable with the apparent lack of structures at times but this allows room for people to emerge. Under the apparent vacuum there is a plan and approach. This is organic growth not a pre-set program. If you have questions please discuss them with John, Tony, Donald or Joburt. |
A healthy church is where people do things out of their joyful heart not because of a sense of guilt or obligation! |
